Did you see Kate LLufrio of Babystepps with Elaine Caetano on GBC last night? Well if you didn’t, here’s a chance to catch up!
Babystepps are starting a confidential therapist-led support group for those suffering postnatal depression or pregnancy related anxiety. With postnatal depression affecting as many as 1 in 10 women within a year of giving birth, this is a very welcome addition to parental support services in Gibraltar.
As Kate explains in her interview with Kelly-Anne Turnbull of GBC News “I think its really important to remember that there’s a lot of pressures on women in general, and mothers in particular. Whether it’s feeding choices, whether they’re having a career and balancing that with parenthood as well. There’s a lot of pressure on mums to get back into shape.. Sometimes I think it’s important for us to take a step back from that and realise that yes, we are mums, but we’re not super mums, we’re not super human and it’s not a bad thing to seek out support if you are struggling in any of those areas.”
